The days when a simple bar on your website saying \"By using this site, you consent to cookies\" was enough are definitely over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today are <strong>Consent Management Platform<\/strong> and the latest standard <strong>TCF (<a href=\"https:\/\/iabeurope.eu\/transparency-consent-framework\/\">Transparency and Consent Framework<\/a>)<\/strong> an absolute necessity for the survival of your online business.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1. What is CMP and why isn't a regular bar enough anymore?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CMP (Consent Management Platform) is not just a regular visual banner. It is a technological tool that actively blocks advertising and analytics scripts until the user gives explicit consent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/weprogrammatic.com\/en\/cookies-consent-and-user-data-how-digital-advertising-is-changing-for-publishers\/#:~:text=groups%20to%20sponsors-,Consent,-%3A%20the%20basis%20for\">According to European rules<\/a> (GDPR and ePrivacy) consent must be:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Free and informed<\/strong> The user must know exactly to whom and for what they are giving consent.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Granular<\/strong> (option to refuse advertising but allow analytics)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Easily revocable<\/strong> (as easily as it was granted).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Without a certified CMP, you risk not only huge fines from authorities but, most importantly, an immediate loss of advertising revenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2. TCF: The Language Spoken by the Advertising World<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, consent on your website alone is not enough \u2013 you need to be able to move it forward. And this is where <strong>TCF (Transparency and Consent Framework)<\/strong>which was developed by IAB Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">TCF functions as a universal translator. When a website visitor clicks on your CMP bar, TCF converts their choice into a special encoded string (the so-called <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tc-string.com\/blog\/what-is-a-tc-string\">TC String<\/a><\/em>This string is immediately sent to ad networks and advertisers (DSP partners). They will determine in a fraction of a second whether they can show personalized advertisements to this user.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>3. What happens if you don't have an up-to-date TCF and a certified CMP?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Google and other tech giants are demanding that publishers (website operators) use <strong>exclusively <a href=\"https:\/\/flexyconsent.com\/eg\/blog\/google-certified-cmp-list-requirements\/\">Google Certified CMP<\/a><\/strong>which fully support the latest version of TCF.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you do not meet the conditions, the harsh reality sets in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Blocking personalized advertising<\/strong> Advertisers will not buy your ad space because they do not have technologically verified consent.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Major collapse <a href=\"https:\/\/adsinteractive.com\/blog\/how-to-understand-publisher-rpm-and-why-it-matters\/\">RPM<\/a> income<\/strong> Untargeted (general) advertising has very little value. Your ad revenue may drop significantly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Complete ad blocking:<\/strong> In the worst-case scenario, ad networks (including Google) may completely suspend ad serving on your domain.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Summary: The Path to Effective Monetization<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Proper website monetization today is no longer just about quality content and traffic. It relies on <strong>technologically compliant<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To successfully monetize your website, check if your cookie banner is Google-certified as a CMP and if it supports current TCF standards.
